The British Thoracic Oncology Group (BTOG) has published a new practical guide to support healthcare professionals in interpreting and using tumour next-generation sequencing (NGS) reports in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
As genomic testing becomes embedded in routine lung cancer care, clinicians are increasingly required to interpret complex DNA and RNA sequencing reports and translate these findings into treatment decisions. This educational resource has been developed to aid that process. It does not replace discussion at Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings or Genomic Tumour Advisory Boards (GTABs), nor does it constitute formal clinical guidance. Instead, it reflects expert opinion and current UK guidance, recognising that practice and laboratory reporting formats may evolve over time.
BTOG hopes this resource will support consistent, confident interpretation of genomic data across the UK and ultimately contribute to more personalised care for patients with NSCLC.
